Federation of Insurance Women of Texas celebrates 76 years in the Texas Insurance industry! With over 500 members, our nonprofit membership base includes insurance professionals throughout the state of Texas and beyond.
FIWT was formed in 1944 and the goals set by the original officers are the goals still today:
"First through study and practice, the building and maintaining of greater efficiency. Second, through association and business meetings, the establishing of acquaintance with insurance women. Third, to collectively participate in the civic betterment of the community. Finally, through unselfish service, seek to elevate the standards of the insurance profession."
The goals of FIWT have not wavered in all these years. FIWT still promotes and provides education for members and the Texas Insurance industry. Our mission statement is:
"The mission of the Federation of Insurance Women of Texas is to promote and provide education and professional development for its members and the Texas insurance industry while emphasizing service in our communities."
Our local associations located throughout the state of Texas hold fundraisers to benefit local community service projects. On the state level FIWT raises funds for one annual community service projects. Previous various charitable organizations including Make a Wish Foundation, Special Olympics, and many others. For the year ending October 2011, FIWT raised money for the Wounded Warrior Project. Our members worked all year to collect funds and host events to raise money. The grand total raised for the year was $21,000! We are so proud of our members.

Local Animal Shelter
Each year the Federation holds two major events to provide education, establish industry relationships, raise money for state community service projects, heighten career awareness efforts to bring new people into the industry and encourage social interaction among peers. These events are the Mid Year Education Conference in April and annual convention and trade show in October. For more information about the events please visit www.fiwt.com/events.htm.
FIWT is proud to partner with the INVEST program to help encourage and educate high school students about a career in insurance.
